Dissolved Air Flotation

General Summary

Dissolved Air Flotation, using microbubbles created by dissolving air into water under pressure, is a well-known method of particle separation. Suspended solids and colloids to attach to one another and to air bubbles and these larger particles then float to the surface and are scraped away. Coagulants and flocculants may be used to assist the process.

Applications

Oil and fat separation, wastewater pre-treatment, industrial water solids removal, deinking process water, secondary sludge thickening, tertiary treatment

Benefits and Features

Highly efficient dispersion water system, small footprint for minimal civil works and space requirement, good separation efficiency over large particle spectrum, good tolerance to hydraulic and solid variation, low maintenance requirement, cost effective solution.
